Aker Solutions wins contract from Petrobras for underwater work off the coast of Brazil

Aker Solutions ASA announced on Thursday that it has received a major contract from Petroleo Brasileiro SA to provide an underwater production system and related services for the Mero 4 project off the coast of Brazil.

The service provider for the energy industry defines an extensive order with a value between 700 million and 1.2 billion Norwegian kroner (80.0 million to 137.2 million US dollars) and announces that it will book the order as an incoming order in the fourth quarter of 2021 .

Aker Solutions’ underwater manufacturing facility in Sao Jose dos Pinhais and its underwater service base in Rio das Ostras will do most of the work, it said.

The work will begin immediately, the installation should take place between 2023 and 2025, the company announced.

The Mero field is operated under a production sharing agreement with a consortium that includes Petrobras as operator, in partnership with Shell Brasil, TotalEnergies SE, Cnooc Ltd. and China National Oil & Gas Exploration & Development Co., or CNODC for short. The state-owned company Pre-Sal Petroleo SA is also involved in the consortium as manager of the production sharing agreement.
